How to select the right MAM controller
The MAM range covers the controllers used on the majority of our machines. Selection is by the current range of the main motor, because that is what the controller measures and protects.
- Current ratings — 20 A (motors below 11 kW), 40 A (11–18.5 kW), 100 A (22–45 kW), 200 A (55–90 kW) and 400 A (110 kW and above). The 600/5 version is used with an external CT on the largest machines.
- Models — MAM 890, 860, 880, 6070, 6080 and 6090. The families differ in display, I/O count and the fan control, so ask for the model that was originally fitted rather than the nearest one.
- Fan output — the 860 / 880 / 6070 / 6080 / 6090 families offer three fan current levels (0.2–2.5 A, 1–5 A, 4–10 A), set according to the fan actually fitted.
- Voltage — 220 V control as standard; specify when the machine is built for another supply.
Installation and maintenance
- Record the parameter set of the old controller before removing it. Most “new controller does not work” calls are a missing parameter, not a faulty unit.
- Current transformers must be fitted in the right direction and the ratio entered correctly, or the machine will trip on overload at half load.
- Keep the controller wiring separated from the variable-speed drive output; induced noise on the sensor inputs shows up as random temperature or pressure faults.
- After fitting, run the machine through load, unload, stop and a fault simulation before handing it back.
Mam controller FAQ
How do I know which MAM model my machine has?
The model is printed on the controller face or on the label on its side. Send a photo of the label — the current rating and the model together identify the replacement.
Can a 100 A controller replace a 200 A one?
Not safely. The current range has to cover the motor; a controller rated below the motor current will trip in normal operation. Go up a size if the exact one is not available.
Do you supply the controller programmed?
It is supplied with the standard parameter set; the machine-specific parameters (pressure band, timings, current ratio) are entered at commissioning. We can pre-load them if you send the parameter list.
