How to select the right RH series intake valve
The RH series is built for variable-speed oil-injected compressors. The release is controlled either by the airend suction-port pressure at shutdown or by a solenoid valve, and the check element is a hammer-type plate with a low pressure loss.
- Models and flow — RH-40H 2–4.5 m³/min, RH-50B / 50D 3–6, RH-65B / 65D 5–10, RH-90B / 90D 9–19.
- B and D suffix — the difference is the pilot interface: B uses RP1/2 with an RP1/8 signal port, D uses RP1/4. Choose by the control line on the machine.
- Rating — 16 bar, medium temperature −20 to 120 °C, ambient −20 to 60 °C.
- Flange — each model has its own bolt pattern and O-ring size (for example RH-65B: 150×150 flange, 4-ø17, O-ring 118×3.5). Match the flange, not just the bore.
Installation and maintenance
- The discharge channel is shaped so that the airflow does not wash the check plate while discharging — keep the valve the right way round, the arrow on the body is the only guide you need.
- The integrated solenoid and discharge valve save piping, but they also mean the pilot air must be dry. Fit the filter on the pilot line.
- At shutdown the hammer check closes on pressure loss from the airend side. If oil appears in the intake after stopping, check that the check plate is free to move and has not been glued by oil sludge.
- Use a new O-ring on the flange every time the valve is removed; a reused O-ring that has hardened is the usual cause of a leak after a service.
Rh series intake valve FAQ
What is the difference between the RH series and the AIV series?
RH is intended for variable-speed machines, with release by suction pressure or solenoid; AIV is a normally-open valve for fixed-speed machines that closes on a control signal. The body shapes and the flange patterns differ, so they are not interchangeable.
My machine makes a knocking noise when it unloads. Is that the valve?
Often it is. The check plate can chatter if the pilot pressure is unstable or the plate is worn. Check the pilot filter and the plate first, then the solenoid response time.
Which suffix do I need, B or D?
Look at the control port on the old valve: B has an RP1/2 main pilot port plus RP1/8 signal, D has RP1/4. Send a photo of the old valve if you are not sure.
