Widely Used
The most popular application for differential pressure gauges is filtration monitoring. As a filter cartridge becomes obstructed with contaminants, the pressure between the inlet and outlet ports increases, and efficiency drops.
When the differential pressure reaches a specific limit, the operator knows it is time to change the filter, keeping the process running smoothly and efficiently and preventing damage to the system. Similarly, the operator can use the DP gauge to detect scale buildup in pipes and pumps.

Four Models Can Remove Impurities of Different Sizes

How to select the right AH series precision filter
The AH series is the precision filter range for compressed air, graded by what it removes. Pick the grade by the air quality your process needs, then pick the size by flow.
- Type C — separator filter, oil carry-over up to 5 ppm. Used as a bulk water and oil separator ahead of the finer stages.
- Type T — air line filter, up to 1 ppm. The general-purpose filter for tools and plant air.
- Type A — high efficiency oil removal, 0.01 ppm. This is the grade that gets you to ISO 8573-1 oil class 1.
- Type H — activated carbon, 0.003 ppm. Fitted last, for odour, oil vapour and breathing air.
All four grades share the same housing range and are supplied with a ball valve as standard, so the set can be built up stage by stage without changing the pipework.
Installation and maintenance
- Order of the stages matters: C, then T, then A, then H. A carbon filter fitted before the coalescing stages is saturated within weeks.
- Fit a differential pressure gauge across the first stage and change on the reading, not on the calendar — a filter that is still clean is still doing its job.
- Drain each housing separately. A precision filter with no drain fills up and then carries water downstream.
- Leave the clearance shown in the drawing under each housing for element removal.

Which grade do I need for breathing air?
Type H activated carbon is the last stage, but breathing air also needs a CO and CO2 check; the filter alone does not make air breathable. Use H as the final stage of a C-T-A-H set and test the air.
How often do the elements need changing?
On differential pressure: roughly 1 bar on the coalescing stages. In a typical plant that is every 6–12 months, sooner if the compressor is passing oil.
Can I use one housing and swap grades?
The elements are not interchangeable between grades — each grade has its own element. The housings are the same, so a set can be extended later.
